290. Carrick Shore

Just south of Sandgreen on this rugged southern coast lies the beautiful, serene beach of Carrick Shore. A small track leads to the beach through sparsely populated holiday lodges, but I opt to leave the car at the top of the road and make the journey on foot. I pass a family packing up for a day’s bike ride but otherwise I don’t see anyone else. The beach itself, on arrival, is completely empty and once again the tide is out. By now, the sun is shining and I am blessed with more blue sky than grey. I pass a small boat and a rather photogenic orange buoy on my walk to the shoreline, skirting the rock pools on my return. A very nice beach indeed.
