315. Camus na Taraidh
What a wonderful find this was. My plan for today is to do a clockwise tour of the northwest coast, leaving from Inverness in the dark at 5am and heading up the west coast via Ullapool to Durness before travelling east to Tongue and then back to Inverness via the wonderful 40-mile single track Lairg road through the spine of the Highlands. I’m enjoying my hire car so I’m looking forward to the day’s driving through some of my favourite wilderness landscapes. Looking at the map last night I spotted reference to a small beach just south of Scourie so I decide to make a pit stop here to stretch my legs and see what I can find. I park by Scourie school at 8 o’clock and follow a feint track through fields for only ten minutes before finding this lovely remote bay, notable for the very photogenic crumbling crofter’s hut at the far end. This is about as peaceful spot as I can possible imagine to start my day.
