Returning to the main coast road from Findhorn, I am reluctant to head to my hotel in Inverness on such a beautiful evening, so I decide to squeeze in visits to the next two beaches along the coast before sunset. Only a few minutes from Findhorn is the wonderful Roseisle Country Park, set among the pine forest that back this part of the Moray coast. It’s quiet when I arrive and I am strongly reminded of Holkham beach in north Norfolk, where I have spent so many enjoyable days throughout my life. I walk through the gap in the pines onto the beach, which features more wartime defences such as pillboxes and tank traps. The lowering sun is leaving an orange sheen over the almost cloudless sky and it’s the perfect spot for an evening walk.
