310. Lossiemouth East
The sun is winning the battle against the grey clouds as I leave wonderful Cullen and head west along the coast to Lossiemouth. This rather lucky town has two beaches to boast about, split down the middle by the River Lossie. I arrive at East Beach first and park near to the excellent new bridge across the river, built in 2022 after the rickety old crossing was deemed unsafe. The bridge connects the bustling town with the long and unspoilt sandy beach, backed by dunes. The tide is in and waves are high but I see no surfers, despite the beach’s reputation. Work is underway here to protect the dunes with some areas fenced off and signs politely asking for visitors to be respectful of the habitat.
