A long single track road from Arisaig winds deep into the remote Rhu peninsula, eventually leading to a small parking area by a boathouse which marks the start of a popular 3 mile walk to Rhu beach (Port na Murrach). The beach itself is small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in secluded beauty and magnificent views across to `Skye and the Small Isles. The beach here reminds me of Smirisary. The sand is white, the water turquoise and the surrounding grassy hills create a picture postcard scene. A couple are enjoying the sunshine on the beach, slightly out of sight. I potter around, sit on the perfectly positioned log and take in the view before the rewarding walk back.
