4 August 2022

I had a 48-hour window of opportunity to go beach-hopping in Scotland so I set my sights on Gigha and Kintyre in Argyle & Bute. My first stop, after leaving home at 4am was to visit Kilmory beach, 30 minutes along a single-track road from Lochgilphead in the rural district of Knapdale. A few families from the nearby holiday homes were enjoying the beach when I arrived, but otherwise it was quiet and peaceful, with great views over to Jura.  It’s a stunning beach but understandably not top of the visitor list because of its remote location. These are the very beaches I like, for that reason. Well worth the effort.
