46. Bellochantuy Beach
5 August 2022
I was sad to leave Gigha after an all too short 24 hours but I left with plenty of memories and mightily impressed with this small, friendly community island. I shall return. But now it was time for part two of my trip – a circuit of the Kintyre peninsula. From Tayinloan, I headed south along the west coast, past A’Chleit beach which had impressed me the day before, and onto the more open and expansive Bellochantuy. A wide, sandy beach with the Argyle Hotel at one end, it looked like a surfer’s and dog-walkers paradise. Surprisingly on this warm, sunny morning, it was completely empty.
