The very pleasant sheltered beach at Brighouse Bay overlooks the Solway Firth south of Kirkcudbright and offers easy access from its well-signed car park. On this cool morning I am joined by a few dog walkers as I traverse the bay. With the tide out, I can do a full circular walk of the deep bay, with plenty of options to trek further afield if I wished. Clearly, with its adjacent small holiday park, this beach will be much busier later in the day, but for me it’s an invigorating way to stretch the legs after the long morning drive.
