These west coast beaches have come thick and fast but I’m now reaching the northern tip of the island. I’ve now reached one of the most popular beaches on Lewis,  Traigh Shanndaigh at Eoropie, with its high rolling dunes, pure white sand and surf-friendly waves. With easy access via the Eoropie Dunes Park, it’s a great location for a bracing beach walk or family day out. I climb up the highest of the high dunes to get a good view. By now, I can sense a change in the weather. Rain is due in the afternoon and the blue skies have turned to grey so I expect it won’t be long, especially on this exposed coast, that I will have to reach for the waterproofs. For now, I’m heading a mile up the road to the famous Butt of Lewis.
