149. Eoropie Beach

One of the most popular beaches on Lewis is Traigh Shanndaigh at Eoropie, with its high rolling dunes, pure white sand and surf-friendly waves. With easy access via the Eoropie Dunes Park, it’s a great location for a bracing beach walk or family day out. By now, almost at the tip of Lewis, I could sense a change in the weather. Rain was due in the afternoon and the blue skies had turned to grey so it wasn’t going to be long, especially on this exposed coast, that I would have to reach for the waterproofs. For now, I was heading a mile up the road to the famous Butt of Lewis.
