92. Oldshoremore Beach
One of the big hitters of the NW Highlands. Alongside Sandwood Bay and Achmelvich, Oldshoremore will often appear in the ‘best beaches in Scotland’ lists, and deservedly so. The third of the titanic trio of beaches on the SSSI coast west of Kinlochbervie, this fabulous big beach has it all – deep rolling dunes, wide open golden sand, rock pools, cliffs, good parking, toilets, you name it! Known locally as Am Meallan, Oldshoremore is separated by its more secluded neighbour at Polin by the Eilean na h-Aiteig peninsula. I visited this beach three times during my stay because it was so close to my accommodation in Kinlochbervie. I even popped down at sunset one evening to catch the glorious end to a bright Spring day as the sun dipped into the Atlantic.
