I was well and truly bitten by the Scottish beach bug by now and the Project was in full swing over the winter as I planned my Spring trip. It wasn’t a difficult choice to opt for the Isle of Mull, whose beaches are legendary and I am once again filled with child-like excitement when I set off early for Oban. The drive from Manchester is quicker than expected, allowing me the opportunity to jump on an earlier ferry. This gives me an extra few hours, before sunset and this is very much appreciated as I disembark on a beautiful Spring Sunday.

I head straight to the north coast and the much celebrated Calgary Bay. What a wonderful place to start. A sweeping bay, pristine golden sand and the added bonus of a small scupture park in the woodland behind the beach. A few people are enjoying the evening, some playing beach games, others walking along the shore or contemplating the sunset. I walk along the beach and explore the sculptures in the wood. It’s everything I imagined.
