117. Tràigh Crionaig
After visiting Balephetrish Bay on the north of the island, I thought my beach visits were over for this trip. I had worked my way clockwise around the island over two days from Vaul Bay and I found myself with a few hours on my hands before my flight home. I popped into the lovely ‘Chocolates & Charms’ gift shop near Heylipol (it was the ‘chocolates’ in the name that made me go!) and got chatting to Rebecca, the owner, about my project. She told me about this hidden beach just around the headland from mighty Gott Bay. I had noticed this small cove on the map but wasn’t sure if it counted as a ‘named’ beach, but on Rebecca’s recommendation I decided to visit, and I’m glad I did. The beach lies at the end of a track from the hamlet of Ruaig, where a few houses look over the bay. It was a lovely peaceful spot to end the trip. And I still had time for a late lunch at the Scarinish Beach Hotel before my flight. It was a truly memorable few days on amazing Tiree.
