117. Tràigh Crionaig
After visiting Balephetrish Bay on the north of the island, I’m assuming my beach visits are over for this trip. I have worked my way clockwise around the island over two days from Vaul Bay and I find myself with a few hours on my hands before my flight home. I pop into the lovely ‘Chocolates & Charms’ gift shop near Heylipol (it was the ‘chocolates’ in the name that made me go!) and get chatting to Rebecca, the owner, about my project. She tells me about a hidden beach just around the headland from mighty Gott Bay. I’ve noticed this small cove on the map before but am not sure if it counts as a ‘named’ beach, but on Rebecca’s recommendation I decide to visit, and I’m glad I do. The beach lies at the end of a track from the hamlet of Ruaig, where a few houses look over the bay. It’s a lovely peaceful spot to end the trip. And I still have time for a late lunch at the Scarinish Beach Hotel before my flight. It’s been a truly memorable few days on amazing Tiree.
