Moving further around the coast of Tiree, the largest of the north-facing beaches is Balephetrish Bay, a wide sweep of sand sitting directly alongside the road for much of its length.  This makes it popular for anyone wanting a quick walk or dip (or windsurf) because you can pull the car up right beside the low dunes. Some windsurfers were doing their best to stay upright in one corner of the beach, so I drove round to the far side and headed along a track to the eastern side of the bay (past a rather ugly car scrapyard).
