116. Balephetrish Bay
15 May 2023
Moving further around the coast of Tiree, the largest of the north-facing beaches is Balephetrish Bay, a wide sweep of sand sitting directly alongside the road for much of its length. This makes it popular for anyone wanting a quick walk or dip (or windsurf) because you can pull the car up right beside the low dunes. As I approach, some windsurfers are doing their best to stay upright in one corner of the beach, so I drive round to the far side and headed along a track to the eastern side of the bay (past a rather ugly car scrapyard).
