If I’m really honest, the last few beaches on this anti-clockwise tour of the Fife coast have been a little underwhelming, and I’m in need of a good, bracing leg-stretch to regain the motivation before I reach St Andrews. Step forward Cambo Sands, or Kingsbarns Beach. This is more like it. A single track road from the village of Kingsbarns takes me down to the surprisingly large car park and it’s a short walk through the extensive dunes to a two-mile stretch of golden sand. It’s windy and the waves are ripping up the shore. Hundreds of daffodils emerge from the dune network at one end and I walk along the top of the ridge for some way before dropping onto the beach. Lovely.
