The popular harbour village of Crail is one of the many beauty spots in the East Neuk region of Fife. Just north of the harbour sits this sheltered bay, but as I walk down to the beach from the residential road above, it feels a bit disappointing compared to the Instagrammable waterfront around the corner. The tide is in, the golden sand is covered and it’s a rather ugly mix of shingle and rock. I’m sure it’s more attractive at low tide but there’s no point in hanging around.
