Kirkcaldy is the main town along this stretch of Fife coast. It’s bigger than I expected, with highrise apartments overlooking the wide seaside prom and all the feel of a mediterranean resort. Not really my thing, but I’m here to explore Seafield, the long sandy stretch of beach at the southernmost end of the town. It’s a huge beach, but it’s worth following the Fife Coastal Path south for about 15 minutes to lose the town and head past the ruins of Seafield Tower to see the seals basking on the plentiful rocks. Well, to be fair, I can only see one, but he’s a beast and looking (and sounding) perfectly pleased with himself on his perch.
