265. Burntisland Beach
This is my first visit to Fife and so all of these coastal communities are new to me. I’ve left the charming Aberdour and the next stop is the larger town of Burntisland, which seems much more populous and commercial. The beach lies to the east of the town, and is quite the draw, situated among a modern leisure centre and seaside park. These aren’t my favourite beaches but it’s reasonably quiet on this Saturday morning. A bloke on the beach is swearing at his dogs for spending too long in the sea. All a bit performative if you ask me. When the tide is out, this is one of Fife’s largest beaches, but this morning the tide is very much in, limiting the scope. I walk half the length of the visible beach and head through one of the access tunnels under the railway and onto a pleasant green area behind the bay. I capture the beach for the record, but I’m eager to get on my way.
