98. Badentarbet Bay
Further along the stunningly tranquil Coigach coast lies Badentarbet Bay, another beautiful beach looking overlooking Loch Broom to the Summer Isles. A sign by the beach explains the significance of the bay in days gone by as the source of salmon, herring and lobsters for Coigach residents and traders for centuries. To the side is Badentarbet Pier, which back in the day would welcome steamers and supply boats. Today, rusted fishing equipment lays discarded in one corner and the wide beach sits quiet apart from a burial ground and some cottages. A couple were enjoying a sit-down on the beach having just returned from a kayak expedition on the flat waters. I’m not good on water but today I was jealous.
