204. Firemore Beach
21 September 2024
Two small peninsulas are created by the stunning Loch Ewe, which reaches down to the village of Poolewe. To the left of the loch is a rectangle-shaped peninsula, with Gairloch and Poolewe in the south, from where two small roads head up the coast on either side. Almost at the end of the eastern road sits lovely Firemore beach. The bay here is almost split in two by a low grassy hill, at one end lies a small camping site but even on this sublime Saturday evening the beach was empty. From a small car park, a well made cinder track leads down to the sand. I spent a long time here because it was so peaceful.
