As I travelled further south along the coast road, I stopped off at Westport Beach, which I had visited once before prior to catching the ferry to Islay. Westport’s beach extends a good five miles to the popular coastal village of Machrihanish, at which point somewhere along the way it becomes Machrihanish Beach. So I headed round to the village and joined the beach from the other end. Here it was more rocky, colourful and interesting, with its famous golf club bordering the dunes.
