Dunaverty Bay and Brunerican Bay form two wide south-facing beaches near the village of Southend, looking out towards Northern Ireland. These two breezy bays are perfect for a bracing walk, individually or as a pair. Siting proudly between them is Dunaverty Rock, once the site of Dunaverty Castle belonging to the MacDonald clan. On this occasion I only had time to walk on Dunaverty beach, so I will have the pleasure of exploring Brunerican Bay and the Castle another day.
