244. Kilchattan Bay
9 April 2025
The once thriving tourist village of Kilchattan Bay is now a modest sleepy settlement on the south east coast of Bute. The wooden pier is now long gone and the main activity surrounds a bustling Post Office and Tea Room (where I was told I had to wait ten minutes for a cuppa!). It was at the end of the row of houses that I had parked three hours earlier, but before I rejoined the car I took a slight detour north of the village to the small golden beach, past the benches that overlook the sea and the palm trees that sit neatly along the waterfront. A quick walk on the beach and it was time for that cuppa.
