244. Kilchattan Bay
9 April 2025
The once thriving tourist village of Kilchattan Bay is now a modest sleepy settlement on the south east coast of Bute. The wooden pier is now long gone and the main activity surrounds a bustling Post Office and Tea Room (where I am told I have to wait ten minutes for a cuppa!). I had parked at the end of a row of houses three hours earlier, but before I rejoin the car I take a slight detour north of the village to the small golden beach, past the benches that overlook the sea and the palm trees that sit neatly along the waterfront. I take a quick walk on the beach and then it’s time for that cuppa.
