237. Brodick Bay

Brodick is the main town on Arran and both the start and end point of my circuit of the island. I arrived earlier in the day by ferry from Troon at 7.45 and now, in the balmy late afternoon, I am completing the clockwise tour of the island described as ‘Scotland in miniature’. I stop for a late lunch at the island’s famous Mara’s Fish Bar a few miles north of the town, and now it’s time for my last walk of the day. Whilst Brodick Bay is large and sprawling, the northern stretch towards the golf course and Brodick Castle is the most attractive and it’s here, walking on part of the ‘fisherman’s walk’, where I call it a day. A nice beach to end a tour of a lovely, and rightly popular, island.
