Brodick is the main town on Arran and both the start and end point of my circuit of the island. I had arrived by ferry from Troon at 7.45 and now, in the balmy late afternoon, I was completing the clockwise tour of the island described as ‘Scotland in miniature’. I had stopped for a late lunch at Mara’s Fish Bar a few miles north of the town and now it was time for my last walk of the day. Whilst Brodick Bay is large and sprawling, the northern stretch towards the golf course and Brodick Castle is the most attractive and it’s here, walking on part of the ‘fisherman’s walk’, where I called it a day. A nice beach to end a tour of a lovely, and rightly popular, island.
