227. Lamlash Beach
A new island and a perfect sunny day – what’s not to like? To make the most of my first visit to Arran I took the 6.30am ferry from Troon, arriving into Brodick 75 minutes later. I had decided to navigate the whole island clockwise from Brodick, so first stop was the lovely beach at the southern end of the village of Lamlash, with an artistic mix of golden sand, scattered rocks and bright yellow gorse bushes. Although the temperatures were still low, given the early hour, it was still invigorating to walk along the beach here, occasionally jumping up to the grassy area behind the bay, bedecked with benches looking out across Holy Isle and the Firth of Clyde. A perfectly pleasant way to start the day.
