Wemyss Bay is the departure point for the ferry to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, my destination for the day, but seeing as I am early for the 7.15 departure I have time to pop up the road to the local beach. There’s not too much to say about this beach, but more notable is the superb Wemyss Bay railway station, regarded as one of the finest in the country. Architecturally impressive, it has retained its Victorian vibe with its signage, tea room and book shop.
