Just a few miles south of Terally Bay on the eastern shore of the southern Rhins of Galloway I come to Kilstay Bay. This small sandy stretch sits right alongside the road either side of a large concrete landing ramp and enclosed by a reinforced stone sea wall. The tide is high and not giving me the opportunity to get onto the sand so I make do with standing at the bottom of the ramp as the water splashes my boots.
