88. Clashnessie Beach

Another popular Assynt beach with tourers on the Drumbeg Loop due mainly to the fact that it sits right beside the road and is totally inviting as a stopover for a bracing walk.  Bracing is the word because the deep north facing beach really pulls in the wind and the sea is known to be particularly cold for anyone daring to take the plunge.  Clashnessie comes from the Gaelic Clais an Easaidh, or ‘Channel of the Waterfall’, referring to the Clashnessie Falls waterfall further up the hill.
