The tiny village of Holm in the south of Stornoway is to be my last stop on this wonderful exploration of Lewis and Harris. By now my feet are tired and the rain is threatening to step up a gear, so it is time to call it a day and relax back at the hotel. I park at the end of the village road, nod to a local boat-builder and take a stroll along the edge of the small, attractive stony beach which actually lies on both sides of a small track. To one side, a family of Highland cattle are enjoying the beach. It’s a relaxing and pleasant way to notch up my 38th and final beach of the trip. I started here on Lewis in the rain and I’m ending it under drizzly skies, but in between I’ve experienced some stunning weather on the Isle of Harris and I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity to explore the wonderful Western Isles in all their natural beauty.
