143. Dalmore Beach
After a long and tiring day exploring the fabulous beaches of Harris, I drove to my hotel in Stornoway and promptly fell asleep until morning. I was therefore blissfully unaware of the spectacular Aurora display taking place directly above my head during the night. To say I was gutted is an understatement! No matter, next morning, my final day, it was time to visit the beaches of the exposed north coast of Lewis. I enjoyed the single track cross-island drive to the west coast village of Dalmore to begin my day on Traigh Dhail Mhor. This is a popular spot for surfers and a few camper vans were parked in the car park on my arrival, but with no signs of life. I had the beach to myself, heading over the rocks to watch the waves crash against the sea stacks.
