129. Reef Beach

The third, final and most impressive of the three beaches on the Valtos peninsula is Reef Beach (Traigh na Beirghe), a mile-long white-sand crescent with low dunes and superb views. Access is easy because of the large sprawling campsite behind the dunes, with camper van hookups, toilets, showers and refreshments. A number of campers and motorhomes are on site but bizarrely the beach is empty. What’s everyone doing? I walk almost its entire length, stopping at the handy refreshment cabin for a cuppa and a tea cake.
