I am thoroughly enjoying this tour of northern Harris in perfect conditions. I’m still in the Big region of the island, and I reach the relatively small Valtos peninsula, which more than punches above its weight in terms of beaches, with two magnificent bays either side of a small but cozy community beach at the village of Valtos itself.  A roadsigns invites visitors to tour the peninsula clockwise, which brings me first to the superb Cliff Beach (Camas na Clibhe). Facing north west, this deep bay draws in huge waves from the Atlantic and swimming is not encouraged. I park up above the bay and enjoy the walk down the grassy hill and over the dunes to the sand, where one or two people are milling around.
