120. Giordail Beach
Sitting proudly at either end of the mile-long Traigh Mhor at Tolsta, and separated by headlands, are the fine beaches of Traigh Ghearadha (Garry Beach) and Tràigh Ghioradail. So having got wet visiting Garry and Tolsta, it’s now time to step on the third of the trio. I park at the end of a small road from North Tolsta village, and it’s a steep walk down an access track to this amazing sheltered beach notable for its lush green, folded grassy cliffs. A small pier sits at one end of the beach, built in 1894 for fishermen to launch their boats from (but apparently built in the wrong place and hardly used!). After a walk along the atmospheric beach, I climb up onto the cliffs to look in awe at the vibrant colours, sparkling even on this dreary day.
