141. Traigh an Teampuill
Soon after leaving Traigh na Cleabhaig and traversing the small hill at the end of the beach, the neighbouring beach of Traigh an Teampuill comes into view, named after the medieval chapel (known as The Temple) that sits proudly on an elevated position on the far side and under the nose of the mighty Ceapabhal behind. There has been a building of some description on this spot for 2,000 years but the current chapel was built in the 15th Century. I didn’t go near the ruins because on this sunny evening it was surrounded by nervous cattle with young calves who clearly didn’t want to be disturbed. The view of the beach from just in front of the temple was sublime. This was a truly fabulous spot and a wonderful short walk, taking in three beaches in a little less that two miles.
