137. Borve Beach

The beaches on the west coast of Harris are beautiful and usually quieter than the more accessible options around Luskentyre and Horgabost. The beach at the settlement of Borve (Tràigh Mhòr) is unseen from the main road and with very few parking options, so as a result you’ll likely have this one to yourself. I park alongside the road near the entry to the cemetery and take a faint path alongside the graveyard to the back of the high dunes. The Atlantic waves are pounding onto the white carpet of sand, and with rocks at either end, there’s plenty to recommend about this beach, if you can find it!
