Traigh Hamara is a Norse/Gaelic name for ‘rocky beach’ and it’s true there are some serious rock formations in this beautiful bay, but it’s also blessed with golden sand and rolling machair. Access is easy from the coast road, with a small parking area and picnic bench before a simple climb down to the sand. It’s a wonderful spot, and the high dunes and sheltered cove at one end were providing a peaceful resting place for some cows on this sunny day.
