The main island road on Barra completes almost a perfect circle. At around 11 o’clock on a clock face, the road swings round to skirt the north of the island, however a small side road leads off to the left, passed the Barra Golf Club to the small village of Cleat. Here, just at the end of the road lies a hidden beauty of a beach. I imagine this small enclosed bay, with its white sand and high hills, is a favourite for many locals and visitors alike. I walked to the far side of the bay along the water’s edge and back along the base of the dunes. The blue skies made this beautiful beach look magnificent.
