191. Sands O’Wright

It’s a bit grey and miserable as I make my way onto the small isle of Burray where I am to base myself for a few nights. But the rain has held off and I decide to head further down to South Ronaldsay, over Churchill Barrier No 4, to visit the crescent-shaped beach known as Sands O’Wright.  This headland is known as Hoxa and has many enticing walking routes out to Hoxa Head (with more wartime heritage) but with the evening drawing in I content myself with a walk along the beach.
