At the time, I had no idea I was clocking up my 200th beach of this project but this sweeping bay on Sanday is a fitting one for the milestone. Effort has gone into making this beach accessible, with well marked and maintained entry points at both ends. This is a 2km beach with plenty of interest, with rock stacks, pools, grassy dunes and archeological ruins. A lone fisherman had driven his vehicle onto the beach to fish from the shore but apart from that, the beach was empty, and even he had disappeared when I returned from visiting the western end of the bay. A very enjoyable place to walk, and to feel proud of doing so on 200 Scottish beaches!
