Burness cemetery is a good starting point for a full circular walk of the Whitemill peninsula but with time pressing and more beaches to discover I only have time for a short walk behind the farm at Scar to this lovely beach at Sand Ayre.  The dunes here are seriously high and the erosion led to an important Viking burial boat being uncovered here in the 1990s. I give a polite wave and nod at the farmer as I walk back to the car.
