Heading back up from the thin Tresness peninsula with the Cata Sand lagoon on the left, the beautiful white beach to the right of the massive dunes forms the western end of the Bay of Newark. The walk along this beach reminded me so much of West Beach, Berneray, still the GOAT of all Scottish beaches. As the blue sky chased away the grey clouds and the sun turned the water turquoise, it was about as exquisite you can get, and I felt so lucky to have had the chance to come to Sanday on such a perfect day.
