On the east Sutherland coast north of Dornoch, the main A9 road heads towards Wick and the Caithness cliffs where beaches are few and far between. But soon after Dornoch we find the visitor hotspots of Golspie and Brora, both with long, unspoilt beaches. As I was heading south I came to Brora first, with its golden sand beach running parallel to the popular Brora golf club. I parked at the club and strolled across the greens to the dunes, where the beach is easily reached over stones.  From there, you can walk as far as the eye can see, keeping a look out for dolphins, seals and minke whales.
