A little further along the coast from Melvich Bay comes Strathy Bay, a stunning award-winning Blue Flag beach fully exposed to the North Sea and another favourite with surfers. A side road from the main A836 leads to Strathy cemetery and a small car park with a visitor cabin and toilets. From here, it’s a simple walk to the back of the beach, notable for some incredible rock formations on the eastern edge. With the tide out, it was so interesting to wander around the rocks and caves just to marvel at the geology and the colours.
