It had been a long day on the Ross of Mull, but when I popped back into Fionnphort for an ice cream, I couldn’t resist making the short 15-minute walk over the hill the other side of Fionnphort Beach to this small sandy cove, otherwise known as the Foot of the Sea Sands. Standing proudly at the entrance to the small bay is a solid stone pier, originally built to service the nearby Tormore Quarry. First glance of the beach is from high on the cliff but there is a path down onto the sand and plenty of beach to explore depending on the tide.
