It’s been a long day on the Ross of Mull, and I’m quite tired, so I pop back into Fionnphort for an ice cream and a rest. I decide to make the short 15-minute walk over the hill which lies on the other side of Fionnphort Beach to the small sandy cove of Tor Mor, otherwise known as the Foot of the Sea Sands. Standing proudly at the entrance to the small bay is a solid stone pier, originally built to service the nearby Tormore Quarry. My first glance of the beach is from high on the cliff but there is a path down onto the sand and I’m glad I made the decision to make this little detour.
