After four wonderful hours walking around Iona and marvelling at its beaches, I am back on the ferry for the short return sailing to Fionnphort. The plan now is to make my way eastward along the Ross of Mull, visiting selected beaches along the route. But first, with a Caramel Magnum in hand, there’s time for a stroll around Fionnphort’s own impressive beach, which sits handily alongside the terminal. The notable feature of this beach is the huge split boulder sitting proudly at the heart of the bay. Hard to miss. I watch the ferry chug back to Iona and it’s back to the car for the afternoon adventure.
