107. Crossapol Beach
Hynish Bay in the south of Tiree is dominated by two vast sandy beaches – Crossapol and Soroby (Sorobaidh). On this early morning, after visiting the beach at nearby Heanish, I park beside the road and enter this mile-long beach about half-way along its length. Dark clouds are gathering to my right and the occasional rainbow appears in the distance, and I’m wondering how the day will go. As it turns out, the clouds keep their distance all day and it remains sunny. I walk along the high dunes for a while before dropping down onto the sandy beach and along the shoreline. It’s an invigorating start to the day before returning to my hotel in Scarinish for breakfast!
