107. Crossapol Beach
Hynish Bay in the south of Tiree is dominated by two vast sandy beaches – Crossapol and Soroby (Sorobaidh). On this early morning, after visiting the beach at nearby Heanish, I parked beside the road and entered this mile-long beach about half-way along its length. Dark clouds were gathering to my right and the occasional rainbow would appear, so I wondered how the day would go. As it turned out, the clouds kept their distance all day and it remained sunny. I walked along the high dunes for a while before dropping down onto the sandy beach and along the shoreline. An invigorating start to the day before returning to my hotel in Scarinish for breakfast!
