One of Tiree’s smaller off-the-beaten-track beaches is this little beauty less than a mile from Scarinish and hidden behind a small group of houses at Heanish. Gaelic for ‘Beach of the Fort’, it’s just a short walk across the grass from the road, past the houses and onto the beach. I arrived here soon after 7am and enjoyed walking along the shore before heading out to explore the larger and more renowned beaches in the west of the island.
