The unmistakeable Gott Bay is the biggest bay on Tiree, with its 4km wide beach Traigh Mhor (Big Beach) forming a perfect crescent dominating the north west end of the island. It’s a popular beach because a road follows the bay across its full length, giving many opportunities to pull up (preferably at the designated parking areas to protect the machair) and walk directly onto the sand. A sign by the beach lists the many breeds of migratory birds which stop to refuel in the bay as a stopping point on their marathon journeys from the Arctic to Africa.
