103. Caolas Beach
Caolas is the small settlement at the far east of Tiree and the gateway to a series of sandy beaches separated by rocks looking out over the Gunna Sound to the neighbouring islands of Coll and Gunna, whose own beaches I could see across the water being lit up by the sun. I reached the beach by walking through a field of sheep and cattle (giving the mothers and their babies a wide berth). Clouds were gathering overhead and I could see some rain in the distance. I very rarely experience rain on my beach walks so I was slightly surprised to get caught in a short but heavy shower. On the plus side, it led to a beautiful rainbow over the Sound as I left the beach.
