103. Caolas Beach
Caolas is the small settlement at the far east of Tiree and the gateway to a series of sandy beaches separated by rocks looking out over the Gunna Sound to the neighbouring islands of Coll and Gunna, whose own golden beaches I can see across the water being lit up by the sun. I reach the beach by walking through a field of sheep and cattle (giving the mothers and their babies a wide berth). Clouds are gathering overhead and I can see some rain in the distance. I very rarely experience rain on my beach walks so I am slightly surprised to get caught in a short but heavy shower as I make my way off the beach. On the plus side, it leads to a beautiful rainbow over the Sound as I look back.
