A magnificent trig point on a mound marks Calgary Point, the western tip of the Isle of Coll, and on this sunny morning, offering superb views over to Gunna and Tiree. It was two years ago this week that I stood on the beach at Caolas on Tiree looking across to Coll, so it was a good feeling to be able to look the opposite way.  On that day, I remember spotting a golden beach on Coll from the distance. Now I was walking on it – Tràigh nan Siolag, one of two sandy bays on the west coast of the peninsula. I’m not a sea swimmer, but I have to admit it was tempting to take a dip on this warm morning.
